Section 06 40 00 architectural woodwork
BidAccurate provides millwork estimating services to cabinet shops, millwork subs, general contractors, and suppliers across the US. We take off from the interior elevations, casework schedules, and details, because that's where millwork is actually drawn. The floor plan mostly tells you which room it goes in.
A reception desk with a quartz transaction top costs a lot more to build than a laminate base cabinet, so we track material, finish, exposed ends, and AWI grade where the spec calls one out. Hardware is counted by type. Site-built trim and blocking usually belong to the carpenter. We leave them out or carry them separately, depending on how your bid is split.
Millwork packages vary a lot from one job to the next. Here's what we can carry. We confirm the actual list with you after reading the spec and the bid form.
Each cabinet type on the schedule is matched to its elevation. That way a 36-inch sink base and a 36-inch drawer base never end up on one line.
Species, core, face material, and edge banding all move the shop's cost. We record whatever the spec gives us.
This is the shop-finished side of the job. Profiled mouldings, veneer panels, and feature walls come from the millwork shop, not the lumber yard.
We count hinges, slides, and pulls per cabinet from the hardware spec or the details. Concealed items that aren't shown can be carried as an allowance.
For a priced estimate, shop hours and field hours are separate lines. They're often different crews at different rates.

Cabinet counts, top SF, and hardware by type are finished when you open the file. Your estimator can spend the day on supplier calls.
Tops, hardware, and panel stock are broken out on their own, so each supplier sees only what they're quoting.
Fillers, scribe, finished ends, toe kicks, and countertop brackets are the usual misses. We look for them on every elevation.
Each line references a sheet and a cabinet tag. The markups show what we measured.
Shop production, install rates, supplier quotes, and cost codes can all come from you.
Millwork is part production run and part one-off. One job can have dozens of identical vanity bases and a single curved reception desk. We price both without blending them together.
